A helping hand for Pushkar Chettri ( Darjeeling)

Dear friends,

Attached, is a message from Pushkar Chettri in Darjeeling which is self explanatory.

"Hello,
I am Pushkar Chhetri from Darjeeling. On 7th May 1995,I was proceeding towards Kolkata for my University convocation, I met with an unfortunate accident near Raigunj which shattered all my dreams and changed the course of my life.
Since then I’m on a wheelchair having no future prospect of my life. I have hailed out from a lower middle class and my father, who is only earning member in my family, has also retired from his job in 1997. As such my financial back bone has also crushed with my physical inability. My spinal cord has been damaged to the D-2 to D-4 level which has compelled me to limit and narrow my world to a wheelchair. I had left all my hopes to lead a normal life but I was surviving with the strength of my will power. A few months ago while I was surfing in the internet I came to know about stem cell transplant which sprinkled some hope in me and I started to correspond with the concern hospitals. Ultimately I decided to visit Mumbai for my treatment and I was advised to go to Nurogen Spine and Brain Institute, Mumbai. My first stem cell transplant was conducted there on 15th February 2011. Though the cost of the treatment was beyond my reach but friends and well wishers made it possible with their selfless and tireless effort. Again I’ll have to go to Mumbai for my second stem cell transplant during May this year and the cost may come out upto Rs 3 lakhs for which I’m state of reluctancy. As such I shared my problem with my friend Sameer Roka who paved the way of solution with you. Now I’m sharing my problems with you in personal level with the hope of cooperation to fulfill my dream to stand and walk ahead by my own.
I hope that you will definitely step forward to help me.
Thanking you in anticipation of positive response.
Pushkar Chhetri"
